Well, heres hoping that the poor guy doesn't have to face judge Peter Bowers - who obviously favours burglars.

'I know I will probably be pilloried' - he wants bloody pillorying.

Judges should be removed from Office for such idiocy.

'Judges and magistrates cannot be sued for libel or slander for things they say in court, even with malice, and a judge is immune from civil or criminal action in respect of anything he may say or do in the course of his duties.'

He was actually giving Kudos to the guy for burgling 3 times.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'd be too scared to even consider it.

Giving credence to burglars isn't my idea of Judiciary.

Whilst no doubt ignoring the effect on the poor sods who have been burgled.

"The Teesside Crown Court judge also said he thought that prison did criminals "little good"."
He's right in a sense there. Prisons should be hard. It wouldn't stop people who need to eat to survive from stealing, but a better (Harsher) deterrent than the current Prison regime is required

Agreed.

I wonder if PhilA has a degree or two?

It does take courage. The judge is clearly educated and understands the meaning of the word, whereas others apparently do not. It has then been taken out of context and made to appear (by the media) as if this is the reason the judge has given a shorter sentence.
In fact the sentence is clearly due to the judges views on prison (which from reading these comments, many people agree with!).
